Yes — because it is rain. Real water drops fall from the cloud into the tank below. There's no speaker and no recording. On light rain mode it's a soft trickle; on heavy rain it's a fuller downpour. Most customers describe it as a gentle shower on a window.

Can I use the rain without the light? Or the light without the mist?

Yes. All three run independently. One tap on the light key cycles colours or turns it off. One tap on the rain key switches between no rain / light rain / heavy rain. Hold the rain key 3 seconds to turn the mist on or off. Rain-only in the dark is the most popular night setting.

Can I add essential oils or Vicks?
